I'm on Windows 10 and there was an update recently, so I'm wondering if the windows audio system has gone awry somewhere. Outside of Sibelius, midi files are playing on my system, so I don't think it's a general operating system problem (though correct me if I'm wrong). For this score I have specfied a Playback Configuration of 1 Sibelius Player for the winds and multiple Kontakt 5 players for the VDL percussion sounds. The audio engine settings are set to the correct interface output, and Microsoft GS Wavetable shows in the active device column (though nothing is appearing in available devices). Use the Sibelius instrument Cymbal A-D and the Manual Sound Sets Program Cymbals. I can see the track levels moving as if there's a signal, but there's no signal on the master track. If I hit play in the score, the transport moves as if it's playing, but there's no sound. The problem is that I remember that when I clicked the second black little window. I cleared this and restarted Sibelius, and general midi is working again! Update: Solved! In case anyone ever has a similar issue - I'm not 100% clear if this was the entire problem, but the "use virtual instruments" setting was ticked.
